Today Tobias went all the way from Copenhagen to Manchester, UK to check out the latest trends within bar fights, pub crawls and Fish ‘n’ Chips… And of course no bullshit Craft Beer Brewing. Today and tomorrow we are joining Magic Rock to brew what we have named The Juggler. We discovered that both breweries had this subconsciously thing about balls….

Oh yes – you read it. Balls. We are ball fanatic brewers and we are now standing out in public and saying we are proud of our balls – that of course be the

It takes quite a Juggler to take care of that many balls and thereby the name of our upcoming Black Hoppy Saison Magic Rock Collab: The Juggler!

Later this week we are visiting Buxton Brewery to check out their <del>balls</del> beers.

To manifest this invasion we will tonight put on a wide variety of Magic Rock and Buxton beers at Mikkeller & Friends, so come down and enjoy:

Tomorrow we release our new Fuck Art Series on bottle at the Mikkeller & Friends Bottleshop, Stefansgade 35 from 12:00. The Fuck Art series has been long under way and have encountered various challenges way before even released.

It began when we were doing labels for Fuck Art Let’s Dance. We told our American importers Shelton Brothers that we were doing the series and presented a label to them with a big fat ugly looking cheap scale Hamburger on it. They replied fast, that they of course supported the idea, but didn’t think TTB (who approves all labels in the US) would approve the word “Fuck” on a label. We told them that we could at least try, so they sent it in and after 1 month they returned and told that the labelwas rejected, but not of the reason they thought (not because of the word “Fuck”), but because the label had a hamburger on it, and people might therefore assume that there were hamburgers in the beer.

Oh yes… They got us. To Øl finally found a way to make dining during sport events super efficient – combining Beer and Burger in the same bottle!

NO…. You wish! But NO!

We changed the label to pure scrap metal instead of burgers and they were game!
Since that the beer has experienced a blockades by hipster initiatives all over the world who feared that people might stop taking themselves so serious and start to relax and maybe dance a bit instead. Luckily the beer survived this as well.

That is why we now finally can present the series to you in bottle!

The Fuck Art series is our take on different classic Belgian beers – all with a little twist.

Fuck Art – This is Architecture is a Table beer or Belgian Pale Ale. It is a massively hopped 5% Pale Ale fermented with brettanomyces, that gives a fat funky ending to this quaffable beer.

Fuck Art – Let’s Dance is a 8,3% Belgian Tripel aged on Saint Emillion Grand Cru oak barrels for 8 months (aka it’s red wine barrel aged) with lacto bacteria which gives notes of farm and leather. The oak barrels gives a vinous sweet vanilla oakyness and the yeast adds levels of fruit and flowers.

Fuck Art – This is Advertising which is a 11,3% quuuuuuuaaaaadrubel packed with hops to balance the usually sweeter beer. The yeast gives notes of acidic apples, which blends well together with the hops.

Hope you all like it and drink responsibly!

It is the week of Copenhagen Beer Celebration. This friday the doors will open at Spartas Løbehal and 30 different breweries will present 270 different beers over 3 different sessions. To Øl is going to be there pouring some of our latest shiat. The following will be a heads up on what we will present at the celebration.

Friday is the opening day with one session from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm. For us Friday is a party day, so we have invited our very good friend Morten Bruun, who normally travels all over the world to do the newest and craziest takes on cocktails. Luckily he had the time to join us this friday, so we have teamed together for a Beer Versus Cocktail blast – 3 To Øl classics will be twisted and turned into 3 classic cocktails.
Sort Mælk will be turned into a white Russian
Dangerously Close To Stupid will be twisted to in to a Dangerously Close To Stupid sour
Betelgeuze will be turned in to a wild yeast hoppy gimlet.

For the 1st session saturday we will present our newest series of beer – the Fuck Art Series including:

Fuck Art – This is Architecture : A Farmhouse Pale Ale – lots of hops, lots of funk.
Fuck Art – Let’s Dance : A Saint Emillion Grand Cru Barrel Aged Lacto Bacteria Fermented Tripel 9,3%
Fuck Art – This is Advertising : A Hoppy Fat Rich Quadrubel at 11,3%

For the 2nd session saturday we will present some big and bad mofos to you.

Mine Is Bigger Than Yours XXXL – only 12 bottles of this double barrel aged big barley wine has been produced. 12 Bottles!? you say. Well, yes 12×15 Liter bottles that is. We will pop one of them at the Celebration, so look out for XXXL.
Sur Mælk CBC Edition – We are at the moment experimenting with doing sour Imperial Milk Stouts. This is one exclusive version of the project and will be served at CBC and at CBC only.
Liquid Confidence is our latest Imperial Stout added to the To Øl universe. A Black Beast at 12.2% ABV brewed with various chilies. This is the perfect party beer – it will straighten your back, give you confidence at set your ass on fire!

The next beer in the To Øl hop adventure is now a reality – we present to you Dangerously Close To Stupid. An Imperial IPA at 9,3 % ABV with a close to stupid amount of Citra and Centennial Hops in it. It is a bright crisp and super dry-hopped IIPA with a smooth and balanced body.

To make a tight transition between the hop profile and the body we have removed all caramel malts and focused only on basis malts. This is resulting in a nice fresh Spring/Summer IIPA that has a Dangerously Close To Stupid drinkability.

We have for a long time been wanting to do a pendant to the Final Frontier Double IPA, that has this rich caramel body and we think we nailed it Dangerously Close to Perfect with this one.

Cheers, enjoy and be aware!

What will happen, who will run it and what is the plan.

In short To Øl is teaming up with Mikkeller to run what we aim to be the best beer bar in the world. From 16th of March we are opening the doors for 275 square meters of pure beer geek mayhem. 40 taps will be pouring the absolute best beers from all over the world. A bottle shop containing some of the rarest and best bottles in the world will be located in the bar.

We have installed a 20 square meter cooling room just for the kegs and hired ultra beer freak and master of disaster for running the bar: Swedish Fredrik Johansen.

And we will of course open up the show with a baaang. None less than 1000 beers will be served freely from 3:00 pm Saturday 16th and all taps will be pouring a line up packed with rarities and world premiers.

We teamed up with Danish designers Karsten Lülloff and Kristian Lillelund who have turned what was once an old second-hand into a bright colorful bar – enough with black dark cellars where beer geeks can go melancholic on their 3 Fonteinen Framboos. NO! We want the design to complement the atmosphere that we seek -> lively and loving!

We are looking forward to sharing this new beer mekka together with you. So stop by the 16th for a free beer or some other time you prefer.

Cheers!

Since our start in 2010 To Øl has been growing constantly – Luckily a lot of you beer geeks around the world share our passion for no bullshit brewing and potent beers. In 2010 we produced 5.300 liter in 2011 we produced 25.850 Liter and in 2012 we produced 124.300 liters.

To ensure To Øl continues this development we have seeked support from an equally minded friend and partner. So as the Danish newspaper ”Børsen” announced today in an article about To Øl and export opportunities for Danish Micro Breweries Mikkel Borg Bjergsø will in the future become a part owner of To Øl.

The collaboration between the former science teacher, who now runs the world famous Gypsy brewery Mikkeller, and his former students Tobias and Tore (founders of To Øl) has always been close. From brewing beers together on a 70 liter system in their schools cantina in 2005 to several collaboration brews between Mikkeller & To Øl the last couple of years (including our upcoming dryhopped lambic “BetelGeuze” that will hit the market in March), the three beer makers has had a shared passion for crazy experiments and pushing the limits.

With Mikkel onboard To Øl obtains knowledge, network and a capital increase that will catalyze our already ongoing development in To Øl. It is an investment in ensuring you guys a continuing stream of crazy and quality-minded beers.

On a daily basis this won’t affect anything. Mikkel will be the creative mastermind of Mikkeller and Tobias and Tore will be the creative masterminds of To Øl. It is not Mikkeller that is becoming a part owner, but Mikkel himself and the two breweries will function as two 100% separated breweries.

We are very excited about this new partnership and ready to bring you what you want – more beer less talk.

An acknowledgment has since 1999 slowly spread through Europe to the rest of the world, that the only good thing that ever came out of the Euro was Eurodance – a special kind of electronical music designed for one purpose only: To forget the everyday hassles through dressing up in synthetic luminous pants, too tight shirts and dance like a motherfucker to a 4 to the floor beat with a synth on speed and a vocal repeating it self again and again (good if it is with a simple statement, like “I’m Blue”, “I’m a Scatman” or simply just nonsence like “Dubidub” or “Uh I Uh Ah Ah”). All this just to underline the statement, that if the people running our countries are ignorant stupid fucks, then what should be the problem with me dancing like a ignorant stupid fuck.

We at To Øl are of course big supporters of people who are making a living of stupidity and that’s why we have made a sequel to our summer beer “Sundancer” called “Eurodancer”.

Eurodancer is a hoppy Pale Ale at 6,5% ABV. It is a fresh, fruity thirst quencher and a genuine stupid fuck.

Salute!

Some guess: “It must be to brew beer” or “It’s probably just to drink a shit load of bourbon” or “it must be to get away from all the awful danish weather”. We even heard some claming that we only did it, to meet and hang out with a lot of good people, cool dudes, freaks and friends. At all these guesses we just laugh! Never have we heard something as stupid as this!

No. The real intention is to hunt for a very special species of subcultural freaks called “The Hopsters”. They are more mythical than big foot. More rare than a decent landlord and more unpredictable than a sober swede!

In Denmark we only hear fairytales about the genuine Hopsters. How they can lay a bars reserve of IPA’s empty in minutes. How they quaff a bomber in seconds. Now we are settled on hunting, catching and examine these odd creatures ourself.

We have heard that they hunt in areas with an extreme amount of hoppy beers and that they live close by their hunting ground, so they can drag their prey home with them in their stomach safely.

We have retrieved information that indicates a great amount of Hopsters are gathered in the cities Louisville, Chicago and San Fransisco. And that’s where we will start our search. If you have seen any Hopsters (looking like the one on the attached picture), or traces of Hopsters (empty IPA bottles, anti heart burn tablets etc.) then please let us know! We will be forever grateful!

The picture attached was sent to us by Sam Cruz from Against The Grain. We will start the hunt Sunday evening 27th Jan at Against The Grain, Louisville and will continue the hunt throughout the country.

Let the Hunt BEGIN!

This X-mas we present something big and barrel aged. Naaaaaah! Fuck that – we double that! We present something double big and something double barrel aged.

Just straight from the barrels we present our barley wine “Mine Is Bigger Than Yours” in a Muscatel Barrel Aged version. The beer has been 6 month on muscatel barrels where the beer has matured, gotten even fatter, and bigger. At the same time the old muscatel comes to life in the beer adding sweet grapes and plumb notes.

To the left we present our collab with the swedish brewery “Omnipollo”. The beer is called Brewmance – An Imperial Stout, that has been brewed with honey from the Swedish female urban honey collective called BeeUrban. The Bee Hives here are placed on different roughtops in Stockholm and the honey is extreme in every way. After fermentation the beer has matured 3 months in fresh Bourbon oak Barrels to make this a black, deep beastie, robust, thick, crazy impy stout.

Hail Mary and happy heart attack to you all!
